For the love of writing

“God has the plan for your life." Those are the words from Dennis Bambino, a regular guest speaker to my church. He recently preached about life and how not to waste it, and it inspired me to look deeper into what I want to do in my life.

Bambino followed up with not even our parents can plan our lives. It's so common for people to make up these goals or ideas for another person's life and say, "one day you'll be working here," or "one day you'll marry someone like this." When people start talking like that it can freak a person out. It can make a person question their own life and if they're doing it right. One may ask themselves, "Should I be doing something else with my life? Should I date this person instead?" It's hard not to let people get to your head, but we can't forget that it's not up to them. 

No one can plan your life for you, not even you. It’s all up to God. He holds full control of everything and knows all things — the past, present, and future. Therefore, we need to know God. We need to seek Him and know Him in order to know how our lives are meant to play out. It is because of Him that we even have a life, that we have air in our lungs. 

What makes each of us so different is our purpose and the special desires in our hearts. You may ask yourself: why am I so passionate about this? Why do I want to pursue this career? Why do I get angry or sad if something gets in the way of my desires? That’s because they are special desires from God. You see, He plants things in you. Psalms 139 says, we are fearfully and wonderfully made. God has made us in specific majestic ways to fulfill a purpose that only we can fulfill on this Earth. And it's those desires in your heart that drives you to your special purpose. 

Some people might not understand these passions or desires in their hearts. These desires are personal for you; you might not even want to share these passions because you don’t want people to tamper with them. For me, my passion is writing. I know I can get possessive about my writing. I love to write — so much that I feel like my words and work are my babies. My writing is like my teardrops: so delicate and sincere that come out of me that I wipe away because I don’t want people to see them.

But imagine how more beautiful this world would be if we share our gifts and talents? If we just shared our desires it can influence others to even share theirs and then help someone.
